Abstract/SummaryThe Wisconsin Visual-aids Project created a series of scale transportation models for classroom use. The wooden model was based on an actual electric trolley used in Richmond, Virginia. Richmond had the first successful electrically powered trolley system in the United States. Designed by Frank J. Sprague, the trolley system opened its first line in 1888 and stopped running in 1949. Buses took over the routes once run by the trolley system.
