Abstract/Summary"Hand puppets with script 2-HP-1 The Willow Plate (An Ancient Oriental Legend) Years ago a designer of tableware used the Chinese Legend now recognized in Blue Willow Ware for his pattern. The play is founded on this familiar plot, in which a Chinese Mandarin arranges his daughter's marriage to a wealthy merchant whom she dislikes. She escapes with her beloved, the Mandarin's secretary; but the rejected suitor plots revenge and causes their death. The fairy queen mother of the Chinese paradise transforms them into white doves, the Chinese symbol of perfect peace and eternal happiness. Weight 7 lbs." Cf., p. 51.
