Notes Casa Vecchia was created by Midas-touch restaurateurs Leonce Picot and Al Kocab. Picot remodeled an Italian villa built for a member of the Pond cold cream family in the mid-1930s. The restaurant had a prime location on the Intracoastal, 209 North Birch Road in Fort Lauderdale. The cuisine was Northern Italian accented with French classics. Within the elaborate Italian villa were winding staircases and small private dining rooms with glass ceilings so diners could see the stars. Again Picot's hallmarks were much in evidence: fresh imported flowers, unusual plants, fine stemmed crystal, exquisite china and an imposing wine list.
