Notes Lester Bammesberger founded Lester's Diner at 250 State Road 84, Fort Lauderdale. The 24-hour restaurant opened in 1966 and became famous for its 14-ounce cup of coffee, apple pie a la mode, big cheeseburger and French fries. The diner has a 1950s inspired decor and mini jukeboxes on the tables. Most say it is a combination of the food, the laid-back atmosphere and friendly waitresses that keep people coming back. In fact, some diners feel this place is like a second home. Lester's sign was featured on Alice, the television show about waitresses who worked at Mel`s Diner. Subject Cookery - - Florida.
