Date 1959 Notes The Florida Department of Agriculture designated Pompano as the site of one of the official state farmers markets. The market, located about a mile west of the Florida East Coast Railway tracks on Atlantic Avenue, grew to be the world's largest winter vegetable markets attracting local farmers from around South Florida and buyers from throughout the nation.
