Date 1925 Notes Although no longer the main street, Brickell Avenue was still a part of the downtown area in the 1920s. Mrs. Merel Bivans, proprietress of her family's hotel, and her staff pose in front of the daily menu board – "All U Can Eat for 50 Cents". The Bivans Hotel was constructed in 1922 and is still standing. The restored facade of the hotel, later called the Colonial Hotel, is located on Brickell Avenue (Southwest 1st Avenue) in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Subject Bivans, Merel. Cookery - - Florida.
