NotesBuddhist charm or a slip from the Buddhist sect called Hokekyo (in Japan) for spiritual and physical peace. Print features a monk with a shaved head, wearing a heavy robe and holding a scroll. The upper middle line and the robe of the priest consist of the title of the sūtra, Nam Myōhō-renge-kyō. "Nam" means "I become a believer." Lotus Sūtra was one of the principle scriptures of Buddhism and considered the key to enlightenment and spiritual insight.
